\nA security issue affects these releases of Ubuntu and its derivatives:<\/p>\n

\n– cloud-init: initialization and customization tool for cloud instances<\/p>\n
Details:<\/p>\n
Mike Stroyan discovered that cloud-init could log password hashes when
\nreporting schema failures. An attacker with access to these logs could
\npotentially use this to gain user credentials.<\/p>\n
Update instructions:<\/p>\n
The problem can be corrected by updating your system to the following
\npackage versions:<\/p>\n
Ubuntu 22.04 LTS:
\ncloud-init 22.2-0ubuntu1~22.04.3<\/p>\n
Ubuntu 21.10:
\ncloud-init 22.2-0ubuntu1~21.10.3<\/p>\n
Ubuntu 20.04 LTS:
\ncloud-init 22.2-0ubuntu1~20.04.3<\/p>\n
Ubuntu 18.04 LTS:
\ncloud-init 22.2-0ubuntu1~18.04.3<\/p>\n
In general, a standard system update will make the necessary changes.
\nPlease note that sensitive information may have been logged to remote
\nlogging aggregators as well as to the system journal, and removal of
\nsuch information may be required. Similarly, cloud-init configurations
\nthat log in non-default locations may also require the removal of
\nsensitive information.<\/p>\n
