It comes with a user-friendly web interface and allows us to share music and video with multiple users. You can stream your music from home and listen to your music from anywhere.<\/p>\n<p>In this tutorial, we will be going to learn how to install Subsonic media server in Ubuntu 18.04 server.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"requirements\">Requirements<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>A server running Ubuntu 18.04.<\/li>\n<li>A non-root user with sudo privileges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"install-java\">Install Java<\/h2>\n<p>Subsonic media server is written in Java, so you will need to install Java to your system. You can install Java using the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">sudo apt-get install oracle-java8-installer -y<\/p>\n<p>After installing Java, you can check the version of Java with the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">java -version<\/p>\n<p>You should see the following output:<\/p>\n<pre>Java version \"1.8.0_91\"&#13;\nJava(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_91-b14)&#13;\nJava HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.91-b14, mixed mode)&#13;\n<\/pre>\n<h2 id=\"install-subsonic\">Install Subsonic<\/h2>\n<p>First, you will need to download the latest version of the Subsonic to your system. You can download it using the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">wget https:\/\/s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com\/subsonic-public\/download\/subsonic-6.1.3.deb<\/p>\n<p>Once the download is completed, install the Subsonic using the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">sudo dpkg -i subsonic-6.1.3.deb<\/p>\n<p>Once the Subsonic is installed, restart the Subsonic service with the following command:<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">sudo systemctl restart subsonic<\/p>\n<p>By default, Subsonic store their music files in \/var\/music directory. So you will need to create a music directory for Subsonic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"command\">sudo mkdir \/var\/music<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"access-subsonic-web-interface\">Access Subsonic Web Interface<\/h2>\n<p>Now, Subsonic media server is installed and runs on port 4040.
