A request such as GET \/users\/me\/profile?user_id=victim (or a POST with {&#8220;user_id&#8221;: &#8220;victim&#8221;} when body: &#8220;*&#8221;) yields a decoded protobuf struct where the path-bound field carries the attacker-supplied value rather than the router-extracted value.
